Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026. This policy explains what information SkipAds (skipads.site) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Who we are
SkipAds is an independent website for watching YouTube videos. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. You can reach us at duytan030522@gmail.com.
Using SkipAds without signing in
You do not need an account. When you use SkipAds signed out, we do not ask for your name, email or any other personal details.
- Watch history and recent searches are saved in your own browser (local storage) so you can pick up where you left off. They stay on your device and are not sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Theme preference (light or dark) is also kept in your browser.
Signing in with Google
Signing in is optional and only unlocks your subscription feed and playlists that follow you between devices. When you sign in, we receive and store:
- your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture;
- the time of your most recent sign-in;
- playlists you create on SkipAds: their names, descriptions, and the videos you add (video ID, title, thumbnail and channel name).
Your sign-in session, including the access token Google issues to SkipAds, is kept in an encrypted cookie in your browser. We do not store your Google password and never see it.
YouTube API Services
SkipAds uses YouTube API Services. By using SkipAds you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and information handled by YouTube and Google is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
- Playback. Videos play through YouTube's embedded player. The player is served by YouTube, which may set its own cookies and collect information under Google's privacy policy.
- Your subscription feed. If you sign in, we ask for read-only access to your YouTube account (the
youtube.readonlypermission). We use it only to read the list of channels you subscribe to and their recent uploads, so we can show your feed. SkipAds cannot post, comment, like, subscribe or change anything on your YouTube account. Feed data is fetched when you open the feed and is not stored on our servers. - Videos, search results and comments shown on SkipAds are retrieved from YouTube when you request them. To do that, the video you open or the search terms you enter are sent to YouTube.
You can revoke SkipAds' access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
Google user data
SkipAds' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide the features described above. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or let people read it except where you ask us to (for example, a support request), for security, or where the law requires it.
Analytics and server logs
We use Google Analytics to understand how SkipAds is used. It records the pages you visit, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and actions such as searches (including the search terms) and videos played (the video ID and title). Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical request data (IP address, browser user agent and the URL requested) to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse. These logs are kept only briefly.
Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in cookies keep you signed in and protect the sign-in process. They are required for the account features to work.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, described above.
- YouTube player cookies, set by YouTube when a video plays.
- Local storage for watch history, recent searches and theme, which never leaves your device.
How we use information
- to provide SkipAds' features, such as your feed and playlists;
- to keep the service secure and working;
- to understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve them.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it to show you advertising.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that run SkipAds for us, and only as needed for them to do so:
- Vercel, which hosts the website;
- MongoDB Atlas, which hosts our database (account and playlist data);
- Google, for sign-in, YouTube and Google Analytics.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account and playlist data for as long as you use SkipAds. You can delete individual playlists yourself at any time. To delete your account and everything associated with it, email duytan030522@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, and we will delete it within 30 days.
Revoking access on your Google Account permissions page stops SkipAds from reading your YouTube data immediately. Data stored only in your browser can be removed by clearing your browser data.
Security
Connections to SkipAds are encrypted with HTTPS, sign-in sessions are stored in encrypted cookies, and access to our database is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
SkipAds is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make a reasonable effort to let signed-in users know. See also our Terms of Service.
