A SkipVids alternative with no login wall
SkipVids asks you to create an account to unlock full access, and pushes a premium tier. SkipAds does the same job for free, and only asks you to sign in if you want your own subscription feed.
The main difference: what you have to give up front
SkipVids gates its full experience behind an account and markets a paid lifetime membership, with its free tier carrying ads of its own. SkipAds has no paid tier, no ads, and no account requirement. You paste a link and it plays.
Signing in to SkipAds is optional, and it buys you exactly one thing: your real subscription feed, plus playlists that sync between devices. If you never sign in, nothing is withheld from you.
What both do
- Play YouTube videos on a clean page in any browser
- Work on phones, tablets, desktop and smart TVs
- Support playlists
- Require nothing to be installed
Where SkipVids is ahead
SkipVids has SponsorBlock for skipping in-video sponsor segments, offline downloads, audio-only mode, and support for music-service playlists beyond YouTube. SkipAds does not have any of those today. If downloads or cross-service playlists matter to you, SkipVids covers ground SkipAds does not.
Where SkipAds is ahead
No account needed to get full use of it, no premium upsell, and no ads on the free tier - because there is only one tier. Beyond that, the subscription feed is the real differentiator: sign in and you get the channels you follow rather than a paste box and a trending list. Watch history is kept in your own browser, and comments are readable in-page.
How playback works here
SkipAds plays video through YouTube's own player. It does not inject scripts into youtube.com, alter video streams, or re-host anyone's content - views and watch time are still counted by YouTube and still credited to the creator.
